Wednesday Season 2 has not been afraid to dig up secrets, literally, as the case may be. The titular character took a cold, hard look at both Nevermore’s past and her family’s secrets, and that set up for some of the biggest reveals of the series, so far. It’s a lot to process, especially since we’re waiting to see how it all fully plays out.
Warning: This article contains spoilers for Wednesday Season 2.
Ophelia’s Fate

Ever since Morticia Addams dropped a line about Wednesday being more like her sister, Ophelia, fans have been busy theory-crafting. All we had to go on was that both Morticia and Grandmama Hester Frump were completely unwilling to address the subject. Likewise, we knew that Ophelia is/was a Raven like Wednesday.
There was a time when fans were theorizing that the woman trapped in the basement of Willow Hill was none other than Ophelia. It would explain how she had been missing for so long. However, Part 2 made it pretty clear that this wasn’t the case, as that woman had very different family ties. “This Means Woe” concludes by showing a series of scenes, each teasing at a darker truth or setup for the next season.
Most notably, Wednesday is seen perusing Ophelia Frump’s journal. It’s her newest connection to the past, not to mention her abilities. There’s a catch, as Wednesday gets a glimpse of her aunt. While the titular character only got a glimpse, viewers were given a bit more to go on, revealing that Ophelia is caged within her mother’s basement. More concerning, she’s written the harrowing words “Wednesday must die” on the walls.
Now there are a million new questions about what is happening. Has Hester Frump locked her daughter away due to madness? Or is there something even darker going on? Why the secrecy? And finally, is Ophelia predicting Wednesday’s death, or demanding it? There’s no denying that this revelation will come to haunt Wednesday in Season 3.
An Addams Family Revelation

Ophelia isn’t the only family member of Wednesday’s to get quite the revelation. The Season 2 finale also gave a major retcon to the beloved and oft-overlooked hero, Thing. Thing now has a backstory, albeit a dark one that he doesn’t fully remember.
As it turns out, Morticia and Gomez Addams knew the truth about Thing this whole time and chose to keep it to themselves (which is becoming a recurring theme). Thing was once the right hand (literally) of Isaac Night, but that was before he made the fateful mistake of betraying an Addams. He should have known better.
Despite the secrets, Thing is still part of the Addams Family, by choice rather than by blood, but that makes the bonds all the stronger. In other words, while we have hundreds of questions about what Wednesday Season 3 will bring us, we can all rest assured that Thing will be part of whatever comes next.
Tyler’s Next Steps

While we don’t have to worry or wonder about Thing’s inclusion in Season 3, the jury is out about Tyler’s journey. The last fans saw of his character, he had just experienced a whole new level of trauma. That would be enough to break most people, even those without the Hyde gene.
Here’s where things get interesting, as it’s a new teacher at Nevermore who offers an escape plan to Tyler. Is Capri telling the truth, and truly has a means to offer Tyler a chance at living with his own kind? Or is this yet another ploy to manipulate the young Hyde?
