In an interview with Collider for their film, They Will Kill You, series creators and siblings Andy Muscietti and Barbara Muscietti revealed that a second season of IT: Welcome to Derry is officially happening, but the process of getting to it โ and for HBOโs announcement โ may take a little bit of time.
โYeah itโs going to be official,โ Barbara Muschietti said. โWeโre all working towards it. We are working, the studio is working. Itโs just that we want to make it real, and we need the material.โ
โSometimes the announcements come a little delayed because of deals and stuff,โ Andy Muscietti added. โI donโt want to get too granular about it, but thereโs a general intention to make it happen.โ
โA lot of times, the announcements are the studio having to declare their confidence for the show,โ Barbara said. โWe donโt need that because clearly weโre good. So, when we do the green light, itโs a real green light. Itโs not just like, โOkay, well, weโll try to put this out so people watch the show.โ People have watched the show, Itโs good.โ
