Superman Star Reveals Their Visit to Peacemaker’s Set (But Is It Something More?)

On his official Instagram account, Corenswet shared a picture he took with Peacemaker star John Cena during his visit to the show’s set. Interestingly, both actors are in costume. Corenswet is wearing his now familiar Superman suit, while Cena is sporting Christopher Smith’s outfit seen in Peacemaker Season 2, Episodes 3 and 4. Check out the image in the space below:

What David Corenswet’s BTS Photo Could Mean for Peacemaker Season 2

In the bottom left of Corenswet’s photo, fans can see the numbers “23 7 ’24,” suggesting this picture was snapped on July 23, 2024. That date is significant because Superman and Peacemaker Season 2 were filming at the same time. Cameras started rolling on Peacemaker last June, and Superman wrapped on July 30, 2024. Gunn directed Superman and multiple episodes of Peacemaker, so it stands reason to believe he’d be splitting his time between both sets. As Corenswet geared up to wrap his first outing as Superman, there’s a chance he paid his director a visit on the Peacemaker set.

In that scenario, it would seem odd for Corenswet to be wearing his full Superman suit as opposed to normal clothes. It’s possible Superman and Peacemaker were scheduled to shoot scenes on the same day and the actors felt taking a photo together in costume was too good of an opportunity to pass up. For some fans, that might be too big of a coincidence, and they’ll take this image as a sign Corenswet’s Superman is going to have a key part to play in Peacemaker Season 2.

At first, it’d be plausible to assume Corenswet was on the Peacemaker set to film something for the new Season 1 recap, in which the 11th Street Kids cross paths with the Justice Gang (and Superman) after defeating the Butterflies. However, Cena’s wardrobe throws cold water on that theory. His outfit is clearly from the third and fourth episodes of Peacemaker Season 2, so unless things were shooting out of order, this meeting between the two DCU stars could be for an upcoming episode. After all, Gunn himself has described Peacemaker Season 2 as the “direct follow-up” to Superman, so why wouldn’t the Man of Tomorrow play a meaningful role?

A promo for Peacemaker Season 2, Episode 4, “Need I Say Door,” establishes that Christopher Smith is about to go on the run to escape ARGUS. It seems like he’s going to seek refuge in the alternate dimension where he and his family are hailed as heroes for the time being, but there will still be plenty of action happening in the mainline DCU. As a manhunt for Smith goes on, Superman will probably take notice — especially since the dimensional rifts found in Peacemaker’s house have already been compared to the portals Lex Luthor used in Superman. Kal-El may want to try to find Smith to understand what’s going on and help him regain control of the situation. Or it’s possible Corenswet will portray a Superman variant Peacemaker meets while he hangs out in his new dimension.
