Homelander From The Boys May Be in Trouble as One Franchise Star Is Certain Their Character Is More Powerful

Speaking with ComicBook in an exclusive interview for Gen V Season 2, series star Jaz Sinclair, who plays the blood-controlling Marie Moreau in the franchise, opened up about the comparison between her character and Homelander. Marie’s power set, controlling the blood of others, was firmly established in the first season. Ahead of Season 2 though, the series started making the case for her being more powerful than Homelander, a major plot point for the new episodes. Suffice to say, Sinclair thinks that her character IS more powerful.

“I don’t think that she likes being compared to Homelander because he’s not a great guy,” Sinclair said. “So I think that that doesn’t make her feel good about herself. But as far as being told how powerful she is, I think like part of her rejects it because she’s like, I just want to be like everybody else. But then the other part of her is probably like maybe if I’m super powerful then everything will have been worth it, you know?”

When asked what everyone wants to know, “Do you think Marie is more powerful than Homelander?,” Sinclair replied: “Nobody asks this question. Everybody’s like, could you square up with him? Nobody’s like, ‘Are you more powerful?’… I think so.”

As fans of The Boys may recall, Homelander has only been shown bleeding a handful of times in the actual series, but even with that in his favor, he’s not invulnerable to Marie’s abilities. Marie Moreau’s blood manipulation powers not only extend to herself, controlling her own blood to take on shapes like whips, but also the blood of others.

Not only is she able to control blood as it…exits the bodies of other people, but can even control it while it’s still inside them. That can take the form of saving a life, or perhaps moving all the blood to one location for an explosive effect. As Sinclair noted, the powers Marie possesses give her major leverage over Homelander.

Homelander previously made an appearance in the Season 1 finale of Gen V, quickly apprehending Marie and her fellow students to stop the riot on the campus. It remains to be seen if he’ll show back up in Season 2, but when asked if she might appear in the upcoming fifth and final season of The Boys, Sinclair wouldn’t rule it out: “I mean, anything is possible….There’s hope.”
