One way Lucasfilm takes the pressure off is by handing out cameos in animated projects, where the stakes are so much lower. The latest show to drop on Disney+, the non-canon LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy โ Pieces of the Past, features its fair share of familiar faces. However, a fan-favorite character is hiding among the crowd, one who has never appeared in a TV show before. They’re finally getting their chance at the big time, and I need it to be a sign of things to come and not a one-off.
Cal Kestis Joins the Fight in Pieces of the Past

The universe is in danger once again in Pieces of the Past, which picks up right where LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy leaves off. Sig Greebling and his brother, Dev Greebling, are still at odds, but their beef has to take a back seat because of the threat of the villain Solitus, who wants what every other bad guy wants: complete control. Solitus banishes Sig and his friends to the Forcehold, which is like an Island of Misfit Toys but for LEGO pieces. They recruit a team of allies, including a good version of Sheev Palpatine and Dark Rey, and confront Solitus on his turf. The battle isn’t going well at first for the light side, but the tide turns when Ashoka returns with backup.
A giant Chewbacca joins the fray to take down the giant droids, and standing beneath him is none other than Cal Kestis, the main character in the Star Wars Jedi video games. Using his blue lightsaber, Cal makes quick work of the enemies in his way and even quips about being the only remaining “Jedi survivor” in his galaxy, a reference to the title of one of his games. Fighting alongside Sig and Co. is a huge moment for Cal because it’s his first time making the jump to one of Star Wars’ primary mediums. Cameron Monaghan even reprises his role in Pieces of the Past, proving his dedication to a character that should get a chance in live-action.
