Bob’s Burgers really hits hard with its emotional beats as while the series will make fans laugh with any given episode, there are just as many episodes with a surprising emotional core. It showcases just how much fans have come to love each of these characters after 300 episodes, and the Season 16 premiere gives fans that much needed early look into how it all began. And also revealed how much Bob and Linda have actually impacted the world around them by opening their restaurant at all.

Bob’s Burgers has shown a few looks into Bob and Linda’s past through the years, and have even gotten a glance of when the two saw the restaurant space in the first place. But with Episode 300, “Grand Pre-Pre-Pre-Opening,” fans get the most significant look into the past yet. It’s revealed that Linda had been working in an insurance office, and hated the fact that no one seemed to be truly happy there. Bob had been working as a line cook, and the two were looking for something new to shake up their lives. It’s when Linda first finds the space for the restaurant.
Deciding to use the money that she had been saving to buy a condo, Linda urges Bob to make the jump as it’s something they both want. It’s through opening this restaurant that they also meet some of their oldest friends like the handyman Teddy (who is going through his divorce at the time) and Mort the mortician (who is just trying out using a hairpiece for the first time). But on opening day, things go horribly as Bob can’t stop vomiting from nervousness and Linda starts to give birth to Tina the very same day.

It’s through this birth of Tina that Bob reaches a place of calm within himself as he realizes that it’s all going to be okay. Knowing that he has to be okay enough for his daughter, the two continue to run the restaurant through the years to where it is in the present day. It’s a heartwarming look into their past that shows how much the two are perfect for one another. Linda helps Bob regulate himself, and through Bob, Linda is able to find a whole new kind of dream for her future. To make a space where people can be happy.
The two even have a surprising impact on Speedo Guy, who is not only revealed to be a trial lawyer, but that he hates his job. After eating one of Bob’s burgers, his life is changed to the point where he becomes the free guy seen in the present day. But this is just a bigger showcase that while Bob has been filled with anxiety through each day running the restaurant, they really do bring happiness to those who eat his food. It’s been worth all of the trouble throughout the years, and the world would be a much worse place without their little restaurant in it.
