An All-Time Power Rangers Team-Up Took Place 24 Years Ago (And It Still Rocks)

This particular team-up took place on September 29th, 2001, as part of Power Rangers Time Force, which has gone on to become one of the most popular series in the franchise. Episode 23 of the Time Force season saw the return of a villainous threat from the grave, so for some extra backup, the team of Rangers from Lightspeed Rescue reunited to help, creating one of the great team-ups of Power Rangers history in Time for Lightspeed.

Getting the Gang Back Together

The need for reinforcements arises when Vypra makes her return from the dead, and instead of attacking the Rangers on her own, she not only joins forces with Time Force’s main villain Ransick, but hatches a plan to summon a demon to tilt the balance even further their way.

The Time Force Rangers aren’t in time to stop Ransack from taking the amulet he needs for the summoning, but as they try to figure out what to do next, we see Carter Grayson (the Lightspeed Red Ranger) show up and offer to help. Carter then gets the gang back together, and we get a quick catch-up on their lives after their series ended, and then things hit overdrive.

The episode launches into an epic battle between 12 Rangers (including the Lightspeed Rescue and Time Force Rangers) and the combined forces of Vypra, her demon warriors, and the released demon, and it’s always fun to see the different Ranger colors pairing up in battle. After those pairings, we then get a slick Battlizers sequence and a classic Power Rangers pose to close things out. Throw in a fun getting-to-know-each-other sequence at the end, and you’ve got quite the entertaining team-up, and one that won’t be forgotten anytime soon.

This wouldn’t be the last time fans saw several of these Rangers make a return to the franchise, with Wes (Jason Faunt) leading the charge with full returns in Wild Force, Super Megaforce, and Super Ninja Steel. The Time Force team would also return in Reinforcements from the Future Parts 1 and 2, but Lightspeed Rescue showed up a few times as well.

That includes Carter (Sean Cw Johnson) appearances in Time for Lightspeed, Wild Force’s iconic Forever Red (which Wes was also a part of), and Super Megaforce’s Legendary Battle anniversary special, which also featured Dana Mitchell (played by Alison MacInnis). This is also in addition to both Time Force and Lightspeed Rescue being shown or referenced in several episodes after their seasons took place through previous footage.
