And the big bucks aren’t the only thing it’s snagged. The Official Release Party of a Showgirl has officially gotten a Cinemascore of A+—a higher score than every other movie in the Top 10 at the box office for 2025 in the United States. That is quite the honor, especially for a limited-run, not-quite-a-movie that serves as an album companion. Other films that received a Cinemascore ranking of A were Lilo & Stitch, Sinners, and How To Train Your Dragon.
That’s up to you, really. Reviews of both the album and the film are mixed, maybe moreso than we’ve seen with any other Taylor release, with some lauding them as brilliant and others saying that The Life Of A Showgirl may just be the worst thing Taylor has released. One user on Reddit’s r/boxoffice said, “Have to give her team props. They basically produced what would typically been something you include in a special edition release of the album into something that will make $30m+ this weekend.” Hey, if you can’t get tickets to TSwift in concert, this definitely might fit the bill for how to spend a weekend.
In regards to Taylor receiving her second A+, BOfficeStats dropped this stats gem, showing just how much Taylor has proven to dominate, “With a second A+ Cinemascore under her belt (Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour and Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of Life of a Showgirl), Taylor Swift now holds the A+ Cinemascore record for movies that include the name of a real person who is not a religious figure in the title. For comparison, Elvis, Gandhi, Oskar Schindler, Antwone Fisher, Ray Charles, Nelson Mandela, Harriet Tubman, Mamie Till, Beyoncé, and Christopher Reeve all have 1 A+ Cinemascore under their belts. Those films are This is Elvis, Gandhi, Schindler’s List’s, Antwone Fisher, The Passion of the Christ, Ray, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Harriet, Till, Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé, and Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story respectively.”
