Using Project Sentry, Valentina creates what she believes to be the perfect hero in Bob Reynolds. It takes only a few minutes for her to lose control of the situation, though, and unleash the Void on New York City. The Thunderbolts do a bang-up job helping Bob, but it would’ve been nice if the Avengers had been around. Here’s how all six original Avengers would fare against Sentry.
Despite being a mere mortal, Black Widow proves instrumental in defeating villains like Loki, Ultron, and even Thanos. Battle IQ is the name of her game, as she can outsmart just about anyone she comes up against. Unfortunately, Sentry doesn’t act rationally when he’s flexing his muscles, which puts Black Widow at a severe disadvantage. It would be best if she sat out this fight.
Hawkeye isn’t a metahuman, but his aim is better than anyone else’s on Earth. Loki knows all about how dangerous the hero can be, and the same goes for all of Ultron’s henchmen. But Sentry is in a different class than those villains, and while Hawkeye may have an arrow in his quiver that can slow him down, it’s not going to be enough for the archer to win.
Sentry faces off against his fair share of super soldiers in Thunderbolts*, including the Winter Soldier, U.S. Agent, and Red Guardian. Steve Rogers may be stronger than all of them, but that doesn’t mean much when Sentry is on the field. The only way Captain America would stand a chance is if Thor lets him borrow one of his god-killing weapons, but he can’t count on that a second time.
There are very few villains who can prepare for Tony Stark, as his big brain always puts him ten steps ahead. Not even a raging Hulk can withstand the power of the Hulkbuster armor. Unfortunately, there’s no reason to believe that Iron Man has a suit that’s capable of taking down Sentry in his closet. The best he can hope for is eating a few punches before handing his opponent off to someone stronger.
Bruce Banner’s alter ego changes the MCU forever when he lets loose in the streets of Harlem. The entire world has to be on Hulk watch because there’s no telling what will set him off and where he will wreak havoc next. However, Hulk isn’t invulnerable. In fact, he takes his fair share of beatings prior to fusing with Banner to create Smart Hulk. While the comic book version of the Hulk can go toe-to-toe with Sentry, the MCU’s iteration is a different story, which means the Avengers have only one path to victory in the fight against Sentry.
Thor: Ragnarok is all about the titular Asgardian learning that he’s more than his hammer. Odin helps his son embrace his true nature as the God of Thunder. However, Thanos’ quest for the Infinity Stones proves lightning can’t solve all problems. Thor forges Stormbreaker and nearly kills the Mad Titan and his Infinity Gauntlet. If Sentry picks a fight with the Avengers, Thor must take the same approach. Mercy won’t be in the cards as Thor goes for Sentry’s head and ends a threat that could threaten not only Earth but the entire galaxy.
