According to TUDUM’s Top 10 movies, the top spot goes to Unknown Number: The High School Catfish with 26.3 million views. That’s insanely impressive, but don’t be discouraged KPop fans, as Demon Hunters was right behind it with 25.4 million views, so there’s a chance it could even retake the top spot at a later date. The rest of the top 5 included The Thursday Murder Club (18.7 million), The Woman King (4 million), and the original Shrek (3.6 million).
Why Unknown Number: The High School Catfish Is So Horrifying

So why is Unknown Number: The High School Catfish making such a big impression? Well, there’s a good reason. For those unfamiliar with the topic of the documentary film, The High School Catfish is based on a true cyberbullying case that took place in Beal City, Michigan, in October of 2020. It tells the story of 13-year-old Lauryn Licari and her boyfriend of the time Owen, who started to receive texts from an unknown caller that included constant threats and insults over the span of around 15 months. Law enforcement would step in, and the investigation would lead to a twist that no one saw coming. There are spoilers incoming for the film from here on out, so be warned.
Given the true nature of these events and the effect they had on everyone involved, you can understand why the film is having an impact on so many, especially once the truth finally comes out. On Reddit, No-Introduction 1309 called the film “Truly horrific” and then also noted suspicions of some of the other people who were part of the investigation.
