This month, Hulu added both The Meg and Meg 2: The Trench to its streaming lineup, giving subscribers a couple of enormous shark pictures to enjoy. Of course, while these movies follow what is easily the biggest shark of them all, they don’t actually have much in common with Jaws.
While Spielberg’s classic was a grounded thriller depicting a small beach town at the mercy of a great white shark, The Meg is about the enormous and extinct creatures known as Megaladons. These movies are completely over-the-top and bonkers in the most enjoyable ways, aiming for much cheaper thrills.
The Meg, released in 2018, swam to a monstrous $529 million haul at the global box office. Its sequel arrived five years later and earned nearly $398 million.
New Movies Streaming on Hulu
The Meg and Meg 2: The Trench are just a couple of the dozens of films that have been added to Hulu’s lineup so far in September. As always, the biggest day for new arrivals this month was the first day, which saw a ton of hits added to the service. Those October 1st additions include How to Train Your Dragon, Clueless, Jennifer’s Body, School of Rock, Mean Girls, and more.
