While Patrick Stewart has already appeared in one MCU project, most of his former castmates haven’t, and with Marvel Studios about to reboot the X-Men, this will probably be their last chance to wear a super suit and flip around. Well, a couple of the mutants in Doomsday might have longer leashes because they’re coming over from another franchise, Deadpool. But it might not be a good idea for these characters to stick around, as the next Avengers movie is going to do serious damage to their reputations.
Gambit Is Going to Put His Serious Face on in Avengers: Doomsday

The major appeal of Deadpool & Wolverine is, of course, the team-up between the two titular characters. The Merc With a Mouth makes it clear early on in his big-screen career that he wants to fight alongside Logan, and he gets his chance when the Time Variance Authority threatens to wipe out his timeline. Unfortunately, despite finding a replacement for the original Wolverine, the TVA sends both mutants to the Void to live out their days as outcasts. Cassandra Nova soon introduces herself and offers Deadpool and Wolverine a deal. Not wanting to work for a maniac, the heroes decide to try their luck elsewhere. Their journey sees them cross paths with a group of freedom fighters, which consists of Elektra, X-23, Blade, and Gambit.
Saving the multiverse from Cassandra Nova is enough to earn the whole crew golden tickets. Deadpool returns home to reunite with his friends, bringing Wolverine and X-23 along with him; however, the status of everyone else remains a mystery. The only one confirmed for another appearance is Gambit, whose Cajun accent gives even the fast-talking Deadpool problems. Deadpool & Wolverine plays up the hilarious nature of Gambit’s character, showing how ridiculous a character who makes playing cards his weapons of choice can be. According to Channing Tatum, though, Remy LeBeau’s comedy days are over, as he will be toning down his accent in Doomsday. The Russo brothers apparently don’t want to go full “Deadpool,” which spells trouble for another member of the cast.
