But just because a fantasy movie can be massive in scale doesn’t mean it has to be. There are plenty of stories that keep things low-key and still find success. That should be the approach when tackling movies for these great fantasy characters, who all deserve more time in the spotlight after being part of an ensemble.
4) Jack Sparrow

While it would be easy to say that all of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies are Jack Sparrow movies, that’s not really the case. Johnny Depp’s pirate is always front and center, but the heart of the franchise belongs to Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann. To get the most out of Jack, Disney should consider revisiting his early pirate days. He has so many interesting stories, and at least one of them has to be factual enough to be the basis of a solo movie.
3) Gandalf

Prime Video is working hard to explain how and why Gandalf finds himself in Middle-earth in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. However, there’s still a lot of time between that show and when the wizard shows up in the Shire for Bilbo’s 111th birthday party. A movie just about Gandalf can show what day-to-day life looks like for one of the most powerful characters in the franchise. Since he always has his head on a swivel, he’s sure to cross paths with villains nearly as formidable as Sauron.
