3) Why Didn’t Supergirl Help Her Cousin During the Events of Superman?

The events of Superman put its titular character to the test – he started the film by losing a battle for the first time, nearly died by Kryptonite poisoning in Lex Luthor’s pocket universe prison, and only narrowed stopped an inter-dimensional rift from ripping the planet in two. Sure, the Justice Gang ended up coming to his aid, but Superman really could have used his Kryptonian cousin by his side against Luthor’s multi-pronged attack against him.
We learn in the final scene of the movie that Kara was off-world, hence she wasn’t around to help Superman, and that she likes to visit planets with red suns so she can properly party and get drunk. While that explains her absence, we’re left wondering what’s behind Kara’s wild-child ways. Is she numbing the pain over the loss of Krypton or something, even someone else? Typically, getting as drunk as Kara was in Superman means one is trying to numb or run from pain, and we’re more curious than ever as to why exactly that could be.
Furthermore, given that the upcoming Supergirl movie will be adapting Tom King’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic, which is an epic celestial adventure, why does Kara need to spend all that much time on Earth to begin with? Does Superman defend the Earth while the rest of space tends to fall under Kara’s purview? That is, if she’s doing any defending or protecting to begin with?
2) How Does Supergirl Know the Justice Gang?

After her scene in Superman, Kara doesn’t come off as much of a team player. Though her appearance was brief, Alcock’s precise and hilarious portrayal of Kara led us to believe that she tends to come and go frequently, and as she pleases. Therefore, we would assume that being a part of a team of metahumans like the Justice Gang would be too much commitment for a character like Kara. Yet she did appear in the “Previously on” alongside Superman, Mister Terrific, Green Lantern, and Hawkgirl in the Peacemaker Season 2 premiere, making it clear that Kara doesn’t just know the other heroes, but has ostensibly worked with them in the past. We need to know how that happened. Did Superman recruit Kara to the Justice Gang, or was it the other way around?
