Netflix’s claim to fame, of course, is its original content, such as Stranger Things and Wednesday. While both of those shows have elements that seem perfect for October, scrolling past them will reveal a treasure trove of content. Here are ten hidden gem movies to watch on Netflix in October 2025.

10) The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Henry Cavill isn’t nearly as busy as he was a few years ago, and that’s because he’s working hard behind the scenes to get some of his passion projects off the ground. Anyone with a Cavill-sized hole in their lives can fill it with The Man From U.N.C.L.E., which is leaving Netflix soon. The movie pairs Cavill’s Napoleon Solo with Armie Hammer’s Illya Kuryakin as the duo works to thwart a plot to launch nuclear weapons. While The Man From U.N.C.L.E.’s story leaves a bit to be desired, its stellar performances make it worth a watch.

9) Plane

Gerard Butler has made a career out of starring in over-the-top action movies like Olympus Has Fallen. While Plane appears like another generic Butler vehicle, it’s actually so much more, telling the emotional story of an unlikely duo that has to learn to work together in the face of overwhelming odds. Butler brings his A-game to a movie that also features a standout performance from Luke Cage star Mike Colter.

8) The Other Guys

When the trivia question asks for a movie starring both Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, the first thing that probably comes to mind is Daddy’s Home. After all, it’s a family-friendly comedy that has a successful sequel. However, the duo’s best movie is easily The Other Guys, in which they play a couple of bumbling cops. The Other Guys‘ humor is unlike anything that has come before, and watching it will ensure that the sequel support club earns another member.

7) Always Be My Maybe

It might seem like a good idea to save the romantic comedies for February, when love is in the air. Always Be My Maybe is a movie that can be enjoyed at any time of the year, though, as it’s so much more than just a love story. The chemistry between Ali Wong and Randall Park is genuine, especially during the scenes where they riff off one another. There’s also a great Keanu Reeves cameo that allows the usually stoic actor to showcase his acting chops.

6) 8 Mile

There’s an entire generation that knows nothing about the underground rap battles in the 313. Starring Eminem, 8 Mile tells a fictionalized version of the early days of the rap icon’s career. What could be a cringey story about a rapper getting his start ends up being a harrowing tale of overcoming odds. Despite not being a professional actor, Eminem delivers a masterful performance that culminates in him roasting the current Captain America.

5) Pig

Nicolas Cage has a few movies that seem perfect for the month of October. Ghost Rider has plenty of horror elements, and The Wicker Man doesn’t pull any of its terrifying punches. But both of those movies are well-known, unlike Pig. All Cage’s Rob wants to do is continue to search for truffles and be left alone, but a robbery forces him into action. Pig is easily one of Cage’s most intense performances, which is saying something for him, and it has a great story to boot.

4) Train to Busan

Of course, this list isn’t complete without at least a few horror movies. The first one up is Train to Busan, a modern zombie classic. What sets the movie apart from the competition is that it develops all its characters and makes the audience care about whether they live or die. Train to Busan also goes to the World War Z zombie school, depicting its undead creatures as fast and brutal.

3) The Babysitter

McG is one of the biggest names in horror, whether the world is aware of it or not. He served as an executive producer on The CW’s Supernatural at its peak before turning his attention to horror movies. The Babysitter is one of his more well-reviewed projects, and for good reason. It follows a typical slasher formula, but throws comedy and interesting characters in the mix as well. If The Babysitter does the trick, its sequel is also available to stream on Netflix.

2) Creep

The found footage horror genre isn’t as active as it once was. Oversaturation probably has a lot to do with that, but Patrick Brice and Mark Duplass’ Creep does more good than harm. The movie follows a cameraman who’s hired to film a dying man who wants to leave something behind for his yet-to-be-born child. Things get wacky from there, with Duplass’ character showing why it’s a bad idea to accept jobs from strangers.

1) 47 Meters Down

Jaws is available on Netflix, so it’s hard to make the case for any other shark movie. However, 47 Meters Down has a lot going for it, including tense sequences and beautiful settings. The best part about the movie is that it doesn’t bite off more than it can chew, keeping the focus on its main characters and their fight for survival.
