In a Bluesky post, Digital Foundry posted a clip of writer John Linneman from a recent DF Weekly podcast episode extolling the visual virtues of Final Fantasy VII Remake, saying the recently demoโd Intergrade was the โbest-looking thingโ he had seen on Switch 2 and put its fidelity above the PS4 version.
Superb Image Quality Fitting Of Final Fantasy
The clip, which comes from episode 228 of DF Direct Weekly, had Linneman bragging about various markers of stability and visual quality during a Gamescom showcase. “I’m gonna say right now, this is the best-looking thing I’ve seen on Switch 2,โ said Linneman. โSeeing that game running at a stable 30fps, with that excellent motion blur especially, it looked fantastic. It was completely stable, and it looked on par. Actually, I would say it looks better than the PS4 version at a glance.โ
The PlayStation 4 and Switch 2 are often compared in terms of hardware capabilities, despite the PS4 being from a previous generation, before the original Switch even releasesd. Back in May, Digital Foundry was invited to a console showcase ahead of the Switch 2โs June release. At this showcase, they rated the Switch 2 as โequivalentโ to the PS4 in terms of visuals. Lineman putting the Switch 2 higher than the PS4 in regards to Final Fantasy would be a nice display of the Switch 2โs potential. Still, the Digital Foundry writer cautioned that this could change in the release version of Final Fantasy VII Remake.
