Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 Has an Internal Release Date That Square Enix Refuses to Share

Speaking during a recent stream, Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy director Tetsuya Nomura responded to fan inquiries in the chat about Part 3 and its release. Without saying much about the project itself, Nomura did confirm that Square Enix has landed on “release timing” for the game already, which is quite a surprise. He then added that with this timing having been decided, Square is now continuing to develop the project with this date or window in mind, which it feels confident that it will hit.

“Things are moving along really smoothly, and the release timing has already been decided,” Nomura said of the next FFVII game. “Weโ€™re moving forward according to that schedule right now, so please rest assured and be patient.”

While it’s great to hear that Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 is moving at a good pace internally, there’s always the chance that the project could run into some bumps in the road. Development struggles are, unfortunately, pretty common, especially for AAA games the size of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Still, assuming that Square Enix can stay on schedule, a launch in 2027 or 2028 seems to be the most likely for Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3. Previously, those at Square said they wanted the gap between Part 3 and Rebirth to be similar to that of Rebirth and Remake, which was four years. As a result, this suggests that Final Fantasy VII fans should be prepared to wait another year or two to see Part 3 formally unveiled.

Whenever Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 does arrive, we do know that the game will again begin as a PlayStation exclusive. This means that it will be on PS5 and potentially even PS6. On a long enough timeline, though, FFVII Remake Part 3 should also come to Xbox, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC as well.
