7) Hollow Knight: Silksong

• Release Date: September 4th, 2025

Silksong is one of the most anticipated games of 2025. Fans have been begging for this game for years, and Team Cherry finally delivered. Thankfully, critics and players agree that the developer has knocked this one out of the park. Sure, it can be difficult at times, but overcoming that challenge feels incredible. It is a perfect game for Steam Deck players and one that shouldn’t be missed.

6) NBA 2K26

• Release Date: September 5th, 2025

NBA 2K26 is one of the few AAA sports games that is Steam Deck verified. Madden and EA Sports FC aren’t supported on the device, and College Football and The Show aren’t available on Steam. That’s slim pickings for sports fans, but there’s at least something for the Deck.

5) Dying Light: The Beast

• Release Date: September 18th, 2025

Techland’s latest Dying Light puts you back into the shoes of Kyle Crane from the original game. Now, Crane is dealing with years of “brutal experiments” that have turned him into a half-human/half-beast hybrid. You can also jump into co-op with up to three friends, giving you a bit of help in the darkness.

4) Megabonk

• Release Date: September 18th, 2025

Megabonk takes the Vampire Survivors‘ formula and puts it into a 3D world. That extra dimension ramps things up, letting you jump around the world and use the terrain to dodge enemy attacks. Like Vampire Survivors, it’s a great game on the go because it’s built for small sessions that leave you saying “just one more” until it’s three in the morning.

3) Baby Steps

• Release Date: September 23rd, 2025

Baby Steps is one of the more brutal games of the year. It takes hours to get used to its controls, and even when you master them, you can really only do so much to get Nate over obstacles. That said, when you finally climb the mountain, there aren’t many games that feel as rewarding. You might break a few controllers in frustration getting there, but beating The Manbreaker feels like a religious experience.

2) Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds

• Release Date: September 25th, 2025

Mario Kart is one of the best games to play on Switch, so it shouldn’t be a huge surprise that a game that matches Mario Kart World in quality is great on Steam Deck. If you decided to go with a Deck over a Switch 2, you’re not losing much by getting CrossWorlds over MK World.

In fact, some might argue that CrossWorlds is an improvement on World. Instead of going with an open-world like the latest Mario Kart, Sonic Racing sticks to classic three-lap races. If you don’t love the open world of World, this is a classic kart racer that uses its rival system to inject some personality into your opponents.

1) Hades 2

• Release Date: September 25th, 2025

Hades 2 has been available in early access for a while now, so it’s not a big surprise that it’s a hit Steam Deck game. That said, it’s worth noting that this is taking the award-winning original to the next level. Not only does it have that great combat and roguelike elements that made the original game so great, but the new systems are exceptional additions.

This time, you’re playing as the Princess of the Underworld, which means you have access to new witchcraft and dark sorcery. Add in a new cast of gods and a selection of witch familiars, and you have a home run from Supergiant, who, it should be noted, decided to make this game its first sequel. Hades 2 is a surefire Game of the Year contender and plays nearly perfectly on the Deck.
