7 Marvel Companies More Evil Than Their Villains

While supervillains can be imprisoned, there is very little the heroes of Marvel can do to prevent these companies from profiting from human suffering and corruption.

7) Oscorp

Oscorp is a multinational corporation run by Norman Osborn to push the boundaries of scientific progress. While Oscorp tries to present itself as a legit company, it can be tricky to convince people of the beneficence of such a brand when its CEO periodically goes insane and dresses up like a goblin. Oscorp has been the source of a great deal of problems in New York City. They have supplied many supervillains, including Osborn, with high-tech weapons to destroy Spider-Man. Oscorp is also responsible for inhumane human experimentation and corporate espionage. Who would have guessed a company run by the Green Goblin would have unethical business practices?

6) Hammer Industries

Founded by the billionaire Justin Hammer, the British aerospace, defense, and security company known as “Hammer Industries” is a long-time competitor of Stark Industries. After Stark left the weapons business, Hammer Industries filled the power vacuum and became one of the world’s largest weapons suppliers. Countless people across the globe have been killed by the weapons Hammer Industries provides dictators and terrorists. The company also has developed numerous weapons for supervillains. Justin Hammer would often employ these villains in his efforts to destroy Iron Man. Even after the company’s founder died, Hammer Industries has continued to work with corrupt officials, terrorists, and supervillains in its never-ending quest to annihilate the Invincible Iron Man.

5) Alchemax

In the year 2099, the city of Nueva York is ruled by the corrupt chemical corporation known as Alchemax. Everything in Nueva York is tied to and controlled by Alchemax, including transportation, medicine, food, and law enforcement. Alchemax’s primary enforcers are Public Eye Unlimited, who enforce the company’s iron control over the people of Nueva York. To further tighten its grip on Nueva York and to turn a profit, Alchemax has dedicated a great deal of time and resources to create super soldiers by using human experimentation. To keep one of their best scientists, Miguel O’Hara, from quitting, they addicted him to a dangerous chemical. They then withheld the cure for his addiction and forced him to keep working for them. However, its villainous plan ultimately backfired when, after a botched attempt to cure himself, Miguel was transformed into the all-new Spider-Man. Now Miguel works tirelessly to take down his former employer.

4) Essex Clinic

Unsurprisingly, a clinic founded by a guy who calls himself Mr. Sinister doesn’t really care about making people healthier. Founded by Dr. Nathaniel Essex, aka Mr. Sinister, the mad scientist utilizes the clinic to experiment on and create mutants, which he then sells as super soldiers. He even utilized Essex Clinic’s resources to fund an orphanage with the sole purpose of using the orphans as subjects in his experiments. During the 1940s, the Essex Clinic participated in a secret government project titled Project: Black Womb, which saw the imprisonment and experimentation on thousands of mutant children. Under the mask of a benevolent clinic, Mr. Sinister has committed an untold number of crimes against humanity and nature.

3) Roxxon Energy Corporation

The oil and energy company known as Roxxon is one of the most powerful and corrupt corporations on the planet. Roxxon doesn’t care how many people are killed, if they make a profit from the carnage. The company’s CEO, Dario Agger, is secretly the bull-headed villain known as the Minotaur, and is a frequent enemy of Thor. Roxxon was one of the first major funders of S.H.I.E.L.D. but also worked behind the scenes to aid Hydra in smuggling weapons. Over the years, Roxxon has attempted to exploit the resources of numerous lands, including Monster Island and Mars. They even made a deal with the Dark Elf, Malekith the Accursed. For every one of the Nine Realms Malekith conquered, Roxxon gained full rights to strip the realm of its resources. Agger also employed an alien telepath named Xemmnu to brainwash the public into loving him and Roxxon. If all of this wasn’t enough, Roxxon literally bought the rights to Marvel Comics so that they could trademark and warp Marvel’s superheroes to fit their brand.

2) A.I.M.

The Advanced Idea Mechanics, or A.I.M., is a privately funded think tank that teeters on a line between a corporation and a terrorist group. Unlike other companies on this list, A.I.M. does not attempt to hide its true goal: world domination. Organized by some of the world’s greatest (and most insane) scientific minds, A.I.M. develops high-tech weapons and sells them to radicals and terrorists across the globe. A.I.M. originated as an offshoot of Hydra, eventually splitting off to pursue its own schemes. This cruel organization is responsible for committing numerous atrocities, including human experimentation and terrorism. Some of A.I.M.’s most well-known and dangerous innovations include the evolving Super Adaptoid, the reality-warping Cosmic Cube, and the mad supervillain M.O.D.O.K. For decades, this evil think tank has been a thorn in the side of Marvel’s heroes, and A.I.M. consistently returns to conduct more nefarious scientific experiments and to cause havoc.

1) Hexus

The ultimate goal of any mega-corporation is to expand and gain power for increased profits. To achieve such goals, companies are often run by cutthroat bosses who are willing to do anything for money. However, the company known as Hexus has no boss, as it’s a living entity that seeks to grow and consume. Hexus the Living Corporation is a telepathic alien parasite and living idea. It travels from planet to planet and brainwashes people to become its “employees.” The workers then help expand the Hexus brand across the world, as it spreads like a mental virus into new hosts. Eventually, every brand and mind on the planet belongs to Hexus. Once planet-wide assimilation is complete; Hexus has its workers drain their world dry of its natural resources, leading to a mass extinction that wipes out all life on the planet. The few surviving workers will construct rockets for the Hexus parasite to spread to other worlds. A concept that combines Lovecraftian horror with corporate greed, Hexus the Living Corporation is the most evil and destructive company in the Marvel Universe.
