Director Ari Sandel, who directed 2015’s The Duff, will take on the franchise. This comes in conjunction with Universal’s monster-movie push, where they hope to make an “Avengers meets classic monsters” shared universe, though Monster High isn’t likely to be directly connected to it.
The script, telling the story of these children of the famous monsters at high school (whoda thunk it?) is from Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz, who have previously worked together on The OC and Gossip Girl. No timeline for the film has been established yet.
