Captain America: Civil War Flashback: Whose Side Are You On?

Videos by ComicBook.com

Current Marvel Comics Producer Judy Stephens was an intern at the time, and created two banners: I’m with Captain America and I’m with Iron Man. The banners took over the comic book internet at the time. Whether you were on the Bendis Boards or Talk@, you couldn’t go into a message board thread without seeing the banners.

“As a true throwback to my career at Marvel. In February 2006, as an intern, and one of my first assignments, I created these two graphics, which the internet would take and run with,” Stephens wrote in a public facebook post.

They indeed took on a life of their own, with people substituting in other Marvel characters, or DC characters, or Image characters, or video game characters, or WWE wrestlers; you get the idea.

So far, it seems the tagline for the movie Captain America: Civil War as seen on the posters is “Divided We Fall,” but it’s also six months out. Will we see a repeat of the “choose a side” marketing campaign as well? It’s possible. But for now, here are those original banners. Internet, you know what to do.
