With Akutami returning to the pages of Shonen Jump with this shocking new sequel, the creator also revealed that it’s not going to have a very long run at all with an estimated “six months work” and “three volumes worth” of materials when it ends.
Jujutsu Kaisen Creator Reveals How Long Modulo Sequel Will Be

“In the midst of Jujutsu Kaisen’s serialization, I was approached with the idea of a Jujutsu spin-off to be written by an author other than myself,” Akutami began in a special message shared with fans. “[B]ut I could not accept it at the time because I feared the name of my work would be spread in a way I couldn’t control due to the nature of the medium of manga.” Although the idea of an expansion didn’t sit with Akutami at first, the creator eventually came around to it, “But the offer gave me the opportunity to think about a lot of different ideas, like expanding on a part of the main story, refining some specific background setup, changing the time period, or even making a parallel story.”
