Recently, Paru shared the stage with her father, Keisuke Itagaki, where both family members could discuss their respective anime creations. Keisuke might be best known as the creator of Baki The Grappler, and his work has also become a heavy hitter for Netflix as the franchise prepares to return next year. In discussing a potential Beastars sequel, Paru shared a statement next to her father on Legosi’s potential return, “It’s been quite a while since ‘Beastars‘ ended, but there are so many fans waiting for a sequel or spin-off, and I’m very grateful for that. The world of ‘Beastars‘ is like my hometown, and I feel like I can draw it whenever I want. So, if you’re waiting, a new story will be born. Until then, everyone stay healthy. Let’s do our best.”

Unsurprisingly, Keisuke is quite proud of his manga-creating daughter, standing alongside Paru as she wore her patented “chicken mask” during the event in Japan. Baki’s creator sang his daughter’s praises and noted that Legosi as a character will keep Paru afloat for the rest of her life, “I think she’s a genius. She’s incredible. I knew she’d be a hit even before her debut, and from the moment I saw her elementary and middle school essays, I knew she’d end up on the creative side.”
Paru also further discussed Beastars and the remaining anime episodes that have yet to be released, “We’ve received comments from people overseas on social media, and it really makes me realize that the anime is reaching people all over the world. I’m grateful for that. I have complete confidence in Director Matsumi Shinichi, so I’m sure he’ll be able to create a great climax. I have no worries whatsoever.”
Beastars wasn’t the only point of conversation for the recent event, as Keisuke Itagaki talked about the upcoming return of his franchise’s anime adaptation, Baki-Dou. Bringing in legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi, the next chapter of Baki Hanma’s life will be a significant one, as Itagaki notes, “In Japan, the story of Miyamoto Musashi is based on a novel written by Yoshikawa Eiji, and it gives off a strong impression of him as a quest for the truth, but I want you to see the difference. I think Miyamoto Musashi had a more human side to him. If anything, this is the real deal.”
