Avatar: The Last Airbender’s Original Cast to Host Major Reunion (But There’s a Catch)

Videos by ComicBook.com

Nickelodeon has announced their plans for New York Comic Con 2025 (as reported by Variety), and they will be hosting a special reunion for the original voice cast of Avatar: The Last Airbender as part of the event. But the catch is that also means that only those in attendance will be able to see this new reunion in action. So while it’s certainly a big deal to see all of these classic actors together in one place, it unfortunately will only be an experience for those lucky fans who will be able to get into the room itself.

Nickelodeon

Avatar: The Last Airbender will be celebrating its 20th anniversary during New York Comic Con 2025 with a special panel taking place on October 12th. It will be featuring series co-creator Bryan Konietzko, and series voice cast members Zach Tyler Eisen (Aang), Mae Whitman (Katara), Jack DeSena (Sokka), Michaela Jill Murphy (Toph) and Dante Basco (Zuko). Moderated by Korra voice actor Janet Varney, it’s definitely going to be a panel that fans of the classic animated series are going to want to attend as they look back on the franchise.

Avatar: The Last Airbender has some huge plans for the future overall as Paramount, Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios will be coming to the big screen next year with a new feature film, The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender. This new film will be featuring older versions of the original animated series’ characters, and will also be featuring a new voice cast behind each of the characters as well. So fans hoping to celebrate the original voice cast even further should doubly check out this upcoming panel while the chance is still there.

What’s Next for Avatar: The Last Airbender?

Paramount Pictures

The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender will be releasing in theaters on October 9th next year following several delays and will be bridging more of the gap between the original TV series and The Legend of Korra. The original creators returned to oversee the new movie, and are also working on a brand new sequel TV series taking place after The Legend of Korra as well. Titled Avatar: Seven Havens, the next series will be focusing on the next Avatar taking over for Korra and is set in an apocalyptic version of the future that will be in even more chaos.

This is far from all, however, as Netflix is also working on new seasons of their official live-action TV series as well. Avatar: The Last Airbender is now in the midst of production on both Seasons 2 and 3 with Netflix, but has yet to reveal a release window or date for its new episodes at this time. So fans are in for a lot of franchise projects in our near future in all sorts of different ways.
