The show has featured the emperor of the universe, Frieza, trying to destroy the beloved warriors of Universe 7, as well as the Battle of Gods saga, where the God of Destruction (Lord Beerus) awakens a prophecy of the new Super Saiyan God, Goku. The show highlights the true spirit of training and motivation in our favorite warriors, from Goku’s son, Gohan, to the legendary Hit. There’s also Vegeta’s increasing training prowess, the rise of Zeno, and Android 17 returning as Earth’s ally against powerful dark entities like fused Zamasu and Jiren.

10) Broly
Broly is a fearsome force in Dragon Ball Super, as his tragic past fuels his overwhelming strength. Stabbed as a baby for being born with an innate power level of 10,000, Broly was exiled to Planet Vampa as a kid by the last Saiyan king, King Vegeta, because his power was felt to be a threat to the whole Saiyan race. As Broly grows conflicted by his mysterious powers on Vampa, he is eventually discovered by the Galactic Frieza army.
When Frieza brings Broly into court, Broly’s father, Paragus, assures him of his abilities. This leads Broly to receive training from Frieza to fight against his greatest enemies, Goku and Vegeta. As such, Broly’s coming to Earth becomes the turning point where his abilities take center stage. He uses his rage to burst into a rare and powerful beast form. But what makes him truly terrifying is his ability to adapt and learn swiftly from his opponents.
While fighting with Goku and Vegeta, Broly discovers his legendary Super Saiyan transformation as his flame of revenge turns into a huge green fire of power that engulfs him. However, as his character progresses, he accepts defeat from the Super Saiyan Warriors and finds peace in becoming Earth’s ally. This shift from an exiled antagonist to a healed warrior shows a strength of character like no one else’s in the series.
9) Android 17
Surprisingly, Android 17 returns in this series as a park ranger with a motive, family, and power that surpasses even his own previous strength. No longer serving Dr. Gero, Android 17 instead becomes an ally of Goku and Earth in the Tournament of Power. Here, he uses his defensive barrier techniques and fierce energy blasts to defend the Universe 7 team he’s now a part of.
His key qualities include unshakeable stamina, infinite speed with no recharge requirements, and his ultra-sensitive power of sensing his opponents’ instincts in a fight. With these abilities, Android 17 becomes the driving force of Universe 7. Outlasting even the best of God’s chosen rivals, like Piccolo, he ends up helping Goku and Frieza in the final stage to stand and win against Jiren, the grey of Universe 11.
8) Hit
Hit claims the eighth spot amongst Dragon Ball Super’s mightiest due to his reputation as a legendary thousand-year-old hitman. With glowing red eyes that can detect anything, Hit is not just intimidating appearance-wise, but also due to his unique skills. He solely possesses the rare power of bending time to his will, making him a force not to be taken lightly.
But more than that, Hit proves to be a destructive powerhouse due to his clever tactics, like using energy clones to confuse enemies and his signature move, time skip, to dodge attacks. Fighting the members of Universe 7, this Universe 6 team leader outsmarts even Vegeta and Goku during the Tournament of Power as he manages to stop Goku’s heart with his time freezing. He also overwhelms the Saiyan prince, Vegeta, with his defensive power of creating dimensional holes to dodge and redirect attacks thrown at him.
7) Vegito
The ultimate fusion of warriors, Vegito is formed by the merger of Goku and Vegeta with the help of the Potara earrings given to Goku to save the universe from Majin Buu. Created to stop Majin Buu’s evil half, Super Buu, from absorbing Goku and Vegeta’s allies, Vegito overpowers Buu in both technique and application. The fusion carries Goku’s strength and Vegeta’s skills, using rare techniques like the Banshee Blast, an energy orb attack more powerful than Vegeta’s Big Bang Attack.
With a time limit on the fusion, Vegito comes with lightning speed, Ki blasts, and Hakai power, which can erase anyone from existence. Another one of its key abilities includes the Final Kamehameha, two flashing blasts of blue energy that strike opponents away. Unleashing his Super Saiyan Blue transformation during the battle with fused Zamasu in Dragon Ball Super, Vegito shocks even the immortal Supreme Kai from Universe 10 with his powerful Spirit Stab, which permanently ends Zamasu’s immortality.
6) Zeno
Grand Zeno is first introduced in Dragon Ball Super as a guardian of the universes. There is no apparent creator of Zeno shown in the show, and fans speculate that he existed from the beginning of time. As Omni King, Zeno has absolute power over the multiverse, an ability he uses to snatch away power from anyone he wishes.
As he reigns above all, Zeno can use his core move of absolute erasure on any universe or being. This ability can be witnessed in the show when he erases universes and timelines at will to remove the ultimate evil, Zamasu. He also has an immortality bypass, which can end immortal beings, a power no one else possesses in the entire franchise.
5) Gohan
The eldest son of Goku, Gohan, has a unique power similar to his father. As a mix of both Saiyan and Earthling, he has superhuman speed and God Ki, which he trained to increase under Piccolo, the warrior son of the demon king. Gohan can also transform into Gohan Beast, an ultimate form that is arguably stronger than his father’s Ultra Instinct. This form can be seen for the first time in Dragon Ball Super as he transforms to save his mentor and trainer, Piccolo, from being killed by Cell Max.
From a young Gohan who couldn’t really do much with his inherited powers due to a lack of training and his mother’s focus on academics, Gohan’s character has experienced tons of development after training. His Super Saiyan form was also seen in the series during the deadly battle with Lavender, establishing him as a selfless protector of Universe 7 as he leads them in the tournament of power.
4) Lord Beerus
Beerus is Universe 7’s God of Destruction in Dragon Ball Super, a position he was appointed to a million years ago by the previous God of Destruction, Zeno Sama. A divine being with the feline look of a cat, Beerus uses his signature technique, Hakai, to destroy universes and planets, and also has the power to manipulate ancient God Ki energy. His sole duty is to maintain a natural balance amongst universes by destroying those that hold no potential to allow the birth of new, powerful planets.
Beerus is constantly accompanied by his guardian angel, Whis, who also trained him in martial skills and controlling his destructive power. In the show, Beerus uses destructive techniques like energy attacks to blow up his targets and humorous techniques like a sneeze to wipe out planets. Bearing a strong presence, his dominating power is clear as he motivates Goku and Vegeta to form Vegito to eliminate the fused Zamasu.
